COMPENSATION MEASURES FOR TAXPAYERS
Early day motion 2289, tabled 17 October 2008 by Lord Field of Birkenhead (Labour). Signed by 56 members.
That this House welcomes the Government's compensation measures announced in July and implemented in September for those households which lost out due to the 2008-09 tax changes; notes that this action remunerated 4.2 million households which were net losers but still left 1.1 million households worse off; and further notes that this House looks forward to the Pre-Budget Report, believing the Government will honour its commitment to compensate the remainder of those who lost out when the original tax changes came into effect.
