GLASGOW: CITY OF MUSIC

Early day motion 2169, tabled 6 October 2008 by John Mason (Scottish National Party). Signed by 17 members.

That this House congratulates Glasgow on its successful bid to join UNESCO's worldwide Creative Cities Network as City of Music; believes this is a great boost for Glasgow, coming hot on the heels of winning the 2014 Commonwealth Games; considers UNESCO's recognition of Glasgow as a fitting tribute to the creativity and vibrancy of Glasgow and Glaswegians; and notes the accolade means that Scotland has become the only nation in the world to win two UNESCO `Creative Cities', as Glasgow joins Edinburgh which was awarded City of Literature in 2004.

Signatures by party: Labour 10, Scottish National Party 4, Liberal Democrat 2, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
