TEXT MESSAGING FOR DEAF PEOPLE
Early day motion 2083, tabled 17 July 2008 by Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 30 members.
That this House notes with concern the lack of alternative communication services provided for deaf people; further notes that many utility companies and Government departments depend on the use of a telephone for arranging appointments; believes that the current service provided by Minicom and Typetalk is not always sufficient; and calls on the Government to encourage utility companies and Government departments to increase their use of text messaging for communication with deaf people.
