UK GOVERNMENT AIDS STRATEGY AND COMMITMENT FOR CHILDREN

Early day motion 1644, tabled 22 May 2008 by Mark Durkan (Social Democratic and Labour Party). Signed by 40 members.

That this House recalls the Government's 2005 pledge to place children at the heart of its strategy to tackle HIV/AIDS in the developing world; notes that this involved a cornerstone commitment of 10 per cent. of its £1.5 billion HIV/AIDS budget for 2005-08 to children affected by HIV/AIDS; believes that this earmark commitment helped Ministers to galvanise the international response to children affected by HIV/AIDS; and calls for this level of commitment to children to be sustained in the Government's forthcoming HIV/AIDS strategy.
