FOOD ADVERTISING RESTRICTIONS

Early day motion 963, tabled 19 February 2008 by Philip Davies (Conservative). Signed by 8 members.

That this House welcomes the Advertising Standards Authority's recent data that indicate that there has been 100 per cent. compliance from food and drink companies with regulations introduced by Ofcom in 2007 to restrict the advertisement of high in fat, sugar and salt products; and strongly opposes attempts to introduce further restrictions on food advertising, which will do nothing to reduce obesity but will further undermine the economics of commercial broadcasting and non-broadcast media in the UK.
