SECOND SAILING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD MEDAL FOR ELLIOTT WILLIS AND NIC ASHER

Early day motion 828, tabled 30 January 2008 by Simon Hughes (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 17 members.

That this House congratulates Elliott Willis and Nic Asher on winning the gold medal for Britain after a thrilling final race in the 470 Men's World Sailing Championship at Mordialloc Sailing Club in Melbourne; is thrilled that this is their second world title after their earlier victory in China in 2006; notes the success of British sailing in recent years; and hopes this great victory bodes well for many further successes for British men and women in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
