90th ANNIVERSARY OF WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE

Early day motion 817, tabled 30 January 2008 by Baroness Clark of Kilwinning (Labour). Signed by 81 members.

That this House notes that 2008 is the 90th anniversary of women's suffrage achieved in the Representation of the People Act 1918, and the 80th anniversary of women receiving the same voting rights as men; notes that there are currently 128 women hon. Members in the House of Commons; further notes that this is equivalent to only one in five hon. Members; and believes that the 90th anniversary of women's suffrage is an opportunity to promote further discussions about how to increase the number of women being elected to this House and other democratic bodies in the UK.
