BRISTOL OLD VIC THEATRE

Early day motion 630, tabled 7 January 2008 by Stephen Williams (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 30 members.

That this House is concerned for the future of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre, which was closed suddenly in August 2007; believes that such a fine producing theatre, which has been entertaining Bristol audiences since 1766, should have its future secured so that people from around the West Country and beyond can continue to enjoy its in-house as well as touring productions; and calls upon Arts Council England to commit continued financial support to the Bristol Old Vic, thereby ensuring the preservation of thriving regional theatre.

Signatures by party: Labour 17, Liberal Democrat 9, DUP 2, Conservative 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
