RE-REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES

Early day motion 133, tabled 7 November 2007 by John Hemming (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 24 members.

That this House notes that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will not agree to the re-registration of vehicles of which number plates have been stolen until such time as a number of crimes have occurred; believes that this is an unnecessarily relaxed approach to the problem of car cloning and causes unnecessary distress to the victims of such acts; and calls for the DVLA to change its procedures to be more responsive and allow early re-registration.
