ROYAL MAIL: SUNDAY AND BANK HOLIDAY COLLECTIONS

Early day motion 2173, tabled 23 October 2007 by David Drew (Labour). Signed by 35 members.

That this House notes with concern the decision taken by Royal Mail and endorsed by Postcomm and Postwatch to end the collection of mail on Sundays and bank holidays; is equally worried that this decision appears to have been based on a survey of 1,000 people; considers that there was a failure properly to consult staff, unions, the public and hon. Members, and that customers are only being informed of the change by the presence of small stickers being placed on post boxes; and calls on Royal Mail to think again about this decision and its consultation processes.

Signatures by party: Labour 25, Conservative 5, Liberal Democrat 3, Independent 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
