CIDER BRANDY

Early day motion 2097, tabled 11 October 2007 by Paul Keetch (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 25 members.

That this House opposes new draft EU regulations reviewing present EU Regulation 1576/89 dropping the term cider brandy in favour of cider spirit; believes that this will be detrimental to the sale of the product by using terminology detracting from its traditional manufacture that can be traced back to 1678; and calls upon the Government to ensure that the term cider brandy is retained.
