BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

Early day motion 1882, tabled 10 July 2007 by Lord Hague of Richmond (Conservative). Signed by 53 members.

That this House remembers the massacre in the then United Nations designated safe area of Srebrenica 12 years ago when over 8,500 Bosnian Muslims were killed; regrets that Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, President of the then Republika Srpska and the Commander of Bosnia Serb Army respectively, both remain at large over a decade after they were indicted by the International War Crimes Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in the Hague; urges that every effort be made to find and apprehend them; notes that there will not be long-term reconciliation in the region until they and other indictees face justice; re-affirms the long-term goal that Bosnia-Herzegovina should join the Euro-Atlantic institutions, once the requirements for membership have been met; and urges support for the new High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Miroslav Lajcak, in his efforts to uphold the Dayton Peace Accords.

Signatures by party: Conservative 24, Liberal Democrat 14, Labour 13, Scottish National Party 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
