BANNING OF VIDEO GAME BY THE BRITISH BOARD OF FILM CLASSIFICATION

Early day motion 1744, tabled 21 June 2007 by Keith Vaz (Labour). Signed by 41 members.

That this House welcomes the decision by the British Board of Film Classification to ban the game Manhunt 2 from being sold in the UK; further welcomes the decision to withdraw from sale another video game which used footage of the abduction of James Bulger; believes that games depicting extreme, realistic and graphic violence can damage the social development of children and young adults; and further believes that video games companies should better recognise their social responsibilities when they design a new game.
