WEST LONDON TRAM

Early day motion 1710, tabled 14 June 2007 by Greg Hands (Conservative). Signed by 8 members.

That this House urges Transport for London to abandon its plans for the West London Tram linking the boroughs of Hillingdon, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham; regards the estimated cost of £648 million as too high and not representing value for money; worries at the effects of the 45 metre long vehicles on other road users and its likely effect on rat-running and displaced traffic; regrets the likely devastation to the unusually mixed and diverse retail offer on many parts of the Uxbridge Road; and urges a re-think before costs escalate further.

Signatures by party: Conservative 7, Labour 1.
