TEST MATCH SPECIAL

Early day motion 1645, tabled 7 June 2007 by Andrew George (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 42 members.

That this House notes that for 50 years now Test Match Special has informed and entertained a wide spectrum of listeners who have appreciated the ball by ball coverage of cricket test matches; urges the programme makers to maintain the efforts to keep the show informative, entertaining, impartial, inclusive and accessible to listeners: encourages BBC Radio 4 to resist any attempts to alter fundamentally the successful formula and not to be seduced by proposals to modernise in the belief that this might attract a more partisan listener; and calls upon listeners to congratulate Test Match Special on the programme's 50th anniversary and to wish it continued success for the next half century.

Signatures by party: Labour 21, Liberal Democrat 10, Conservative 9, DUP 2.
