MEDICAL TRAINING

Early day motion 1564, tabled 23 May 2007 by Peter Bottomley (Conservative). Signed by 50 members.

That this House notes the trial observations in the Legal Remedy UK and Secretary of State for Health High Court case CO/3360/2007 in paragraphs 139 and 140, which include the statement `The premature introduction of MTAS has had disastrous consequences. It was a flawed system in the ways I have indicated.', as well as indicating that many junior doctors might have an entirely justifiable sense of grievance including possibly good grounds for appeal or a good case before an employment tribunal; and would welcome the decision of the Secretary of State not to pursue costs against the applicant.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 34, Labour 5, Scottish National Party 5, Conservative 4, DUP 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
