EU ACTION ON EXPLOITATION OF ILLEGAL WORKERS

Early day motion 1515, tabled 18 May 2007 by Keith Vaz (Labour). Signed by 59 members.

That this House welcomes proposals of the European Commission to punish employers of illegal labour; notes that there are up to eight million illegal immigrants in the EU entering at a rate of up to 500,000 annually; believes that the use of illegal labour allows for a proliferation of low wages and poor working conditions; and further believes that this illegal migration can only be discouraged if firm action is taken at a European level.
