UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD

Early day motion 1352, tabled 25 April 2007 by Annette Brooke (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 79 members.

That this House welcomes the decision of the United Kingdom Government to sign the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings; looks forward to its subsequent ratification; further argues that the United Kingdom Reservation to the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child on immigration and nationality is contradictory to the signing of the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings and only serves to undermine efforts to tackle trafficking; and therefore calls for it to be withdrawn immediately.

Signatures by party: Labour 43, Liberal Democrat 27, Social Democratic and Labour Party 3, DUP 2, Conservative 1, Independent 1, Independent Labour 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
