EVIDENCE BEFORE SELECT COMMITTEES

Early day motion 1173, tabled 20 March 2007 by Gordon Prentice (Labour). Signed by 24 members.

That this House notes the observation of the former Cabinet Secretary, Lord Turnbull, on the role of the Chancellor of the Exchequer in shaping Government policy; regrets that these insights were not disclosed to the Public Administration Select Committee when he appeared before it on a number of occasions as Cabinet Secretary, thereby allowing hon. Members to question him on his real views; and further believes that witnesses called before select committees should be required to give evidence on oath.

Signatures by party: Labour 18, Liberal Democrat 4, Conservative 2.
