COUNCIL TAX

Early day motion 1117, tabled 13 March 2007 by Richard Younger-Ross (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 21 members.

That this House recognises the efforts of local authorities to set low council tax rates; notes that many councils have set rates no more than inflation; further notes that council tax bears heavily on those on low and fixed incomes such as pensioners; and calls on the Government to end this unfair tax and replace it with one based on a person's ability to pay.
