POLICE FORCE CUTS IN CUMBRIA

Early day motion 837, tabled 6 February 2007 by Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 11 members.

That this House notes with concern plans to cut significantly the number of police officers in Cumbria over the next four years and recruit in their place more police community support officers (PCSOs); recognises the valuable work done by PCSOs around the country; and further notes that this work is best done as a supplement to the work of sworn police officers and not as a replacement for it.
