EUROPEAN CONSTITUTION
Early day motion 654, tabled 16 January 2007 by Daniel Kawczynski (Conservative). Signed by 54 members.
That this House notes with concern the recent comments made by the Minister for Europe in the Financial Times that a referendum on the EU Constitution may no longer be necessary; and calls on the Government and the successor to the current Prime Minister to recognise that the people of the United Kingdom have a right to a referendum on the EU constitution however it may evolve, as promised in their election manifesto (Chapter 7, page 84) and thus are mandated to do.
Signatures by party: Conservative 42, Labour 5, Liberal Democrat 4, DUP 2, Scottish National Party 1.
