RELOCATION OF ROYAL MAIL SORTING OFFICE IN COVENTRY

Early day motion 640, tabled 16 January 2007 by Jim Cunningham (Labour). Signed by 50 members.

That this House calls on the Royal Mail to reconsider its decision to relocate its sorting office from Coventry to Northampton; is concerned that the relocation will be detrimental to the postal service in Coventry and the Coventry and Warwickshire area; demands that meaningful negotiations with staff and trade unions be entered into and the general public consulted on the matter; and further demands that Royal Mail discuss alternative options and sites for relocating in Coventry with the above parties and Coventry City Council.
