TAX SELF ASSESSMENT FORMS

Early day motion 557, tabled 8 January 2007 by Daniel Kawczynski (Conservative). Signed by 29 members.

That this House notes with concern the complexity of completing the self-assessment forms of HM Revenue and Customs; further notes that the time and sometimes fees involved in completing such forms is prohibitive to their accurate compilation, that the forms often request information beyond that of income and expenditure, and furthermore that the complicated format highlights the over-complicated taxation system in the UK; and therefore calls on HM Treasury to simplify and streamline the UK taxation system and in doing so simplify the forms for self-assessment.
