ADVERTISING ON BBC NEWS INTERNATIONAL WEBSITE
Early day motion 2655, tabled 25 July 2006 by John McDonnell (Labour). Signed by 23 members.
That this House notes with concern proposals to place advertisements on the BBC News International website; believes that the use of advertisements threatens fundamentally to undermine public service broadcasting by opening the door to commercial influence and that it will damage the BBC's reputation as an impartial news provider; and therefore calls on the BBC's management to abandon plans to place advertisements on the BBC News International website.
