DAVID BECKHAM

Early day motion 2496, tabled 4 July 2006 by John Leech (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 20 members.

That this House notes the outstanding contribution made by the outgoing England captain, David Beckham, to both English football and the international game, where he has become a great ambassador for the sport; further notes with regret that his captaincy of the national team has come to an end following the ultimately unsuccessful World Cup campaign in Germany; and wishes him well for the future.

Signatures by party: Labour 8, Conservative 4, Liberal Democrat 4, DUP 2, Scottish National Party 2.
