SEVERN TRENT WATER

Early day motion 2331, tabled 8 June 2006 by Peter Soulsby (Labour). Signed by 21 members.

That this House welcomes the decision by the Water Services Regulation Authority (Ofwat) to impose financial penalties on Severn Trent Water for its performance failures; urges Ofwat to ensure that this fine is met from the recently announced excessive profits of the company or from directors' fees and not by its long-suffering and dissatisfied customers; and encourages Ofwat to continue its investigation into the activities of this company with a unique record of leaking pipes, prosecutions for pollution and bills that have been inflated by its mis-statement of financial data.

Signatures by party: Labour 17, DUP 2, Liberal Democrat 2.
