IMPACT OF THE IMMIGRATION, ASYLUM AND NATIONALITY BILL ON INDIAN AND CHINESE RESTAURANTS
Early day motion 1524, tabled 31 January 2006 by Keith Vaz (Labour). Signed by 40 members.
That this House notes with concern that the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Bill will have a disproportionate and damaging impact on Chinese, Indian and other restaurants specialising in non-European cuisines; acknowledges the immense contribution these restaurants have made by enriching British social, economic and culinary life; calls for the recognition of the specialist skills of chefs of non-European restaurants which cannot easily be replaced from within the European Union; and urges the Government to reflect on the proposed changes and to bring forward further changes to satisfy those concerned.
