RENEWABLE TRANSPORT FUELS OBLIGATION

Early day motion 1434, tabled 20 January 2006 by Colin Challen (Labour). Signed by 83 members.

That this House welcomes the Government's announcement that it will introduce a renewable transport fuels obligation (RTFO) to increase the use of biofuels and thereby reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector; urges the Government to give British biofuels producers sufficient investment and business certainty by moving quickly to implement the RTFO by spring 2007; and calls on the Government to introduce the RTFO alongside the existing duty of incentive for biofuels, rather than as a replacement.
