DENISE MELLOR AND THE CLIPPER ADVENTURE

That this House congratulates Denise Mellor, a 61-year old retired nurse with her two children from Lancashire, on taking part in the Clipper Adventure, chaired by Sir Robin Knox Johnston, joining her yacht in Fremantle, Australia on 26th December to sail to Qindao in China; notes that she has funded the journey on her own and is obtaining sponsorship for the Ribble Valley/White Rose Ladies; and applauds the work of these organisations which have been fundraising since 1998 for Children's Cancer Research, raising over £360,000 for Professor Julian Birch's work at the Manchester Children's Hospital via Cancer Research UK.
