LEVEL OF CONSUMER DEBT IN THE UK

Early day motion 914, tabled 1 November 2005 by Gregory Campbell (DUP). Signed by 29 members.

That this House notes the figures recently released by the Bank of England regarding consumer debt in the United Kingdom; expresses concern that between September 1995 and September 2005 the level of such debt increased from £453 billion in 1995 to £1,130 billion this year; and calls upon the Government to take steps to reduce this alarming increase, which leaves United Kingdom families in such a perilous position.
