INVESTMENT IN UK RAILWAYS

Early day motion 910, tabled 1 November 2005 by Gregory Campbell (DUP). Signed by 19 members.

That this House notes recent reports that the Spanish government, in co-operation with the private sector, plans to invest £160 billion over the next 15 years in upgrading the Spanish rail network, much of it in improving fast rail intercity links; and calls upon the Government to assess the continuing damage to the environment that single occupancy car commuting and short-haul flights cause, and to begin serious long-term investment in railways across the United Kingdom.

Signatures by party: Labour 6, DUP 5, Liberal Democrat 5, Plaid Cymru 1, Scottish National Party 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
