SUPERMARKET POWER

Early day motion 882, tabled 27 October 2005 by John Austin (Labour). Signed by 56 members.

That this House is concerned by the extent of supermarket power and the inability of the Supermarket Code of Practice, and its regulator, the Office of Fair Trading, to prevent short notice supplier delisting, as exemplified by the Ferndale Foods/ASDA case, which has resulted in significant job losses and trade distortion as suppliers are denied fair opportunity to secure alternative customers.

Signatures by party: Labour 25, Liberal Democrat 16, Conservative 4, Scottish National Party 4, DUP 3, Social Democratic and Labour Party 2, Plaid Cymru 1, Respect 1.
