BAN ON IMPORT OF BIRDS
Early day motion 854, tabled 25 October 2005 by David Crausby (Labour). Signed by 63 members.
That this House welcomes the decision by the European Commission to consider a complete ban on the import of pet birds due to concerns about avian influenza and infection arriving among pet bird imports; and recognises the need for immediate, cautious but positive action to close one potential transmission route thus containing the virus and preventing the spread of this deadly disease.
