TRIBUTE TO ROSA PARKS
Early day motion 847, tabled 25 October 2005 by Lord Khan of Tooting (Labour). Signed by 102 members.
That this House notes with great sadness the death of US civil rights icon Rosa Parks; recognises that by refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery on 1st December 1955 she inspired the start of the US civil rights movement; and further notes that this act was courageous and vitally important in the struggle for justice and equality in the US and elsewhere.
