RAISING ALLOWANCES FOR THE LOWER PAID

Early day motion 788, tabled 18 October 2005 by Gregory Campbell (DUP). Signed by 23 members.

That this House calls for the raising of the personal allowance and the level at which individuals begin paying national insurance contributions to £10,000 per annum for 2006-07, in order that those in lower paid employment can see meaningful benefit in working, whether they have dependants or not, and employers paying wages in the region of £200 per week to employees suffer no additional payroll administration in offering legitimate working hours as a result.

Signatures by party: Labour 12, DUP 6, Conservative 2, Liberal Democrat 1, Plaid Cymru 1, Scottish National Party 1.
