LONG SERVICE MEDALS FOR PRISON OFFICERS

Early day motion 739, tabled 12 October 2005 by Mark Oaten (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 41 members.

That this House calls on the Government to introduce a long-service medal for prison officers, in line with medals for other Crown servants like the police, to recognise properly that Prison Officers work in a difficult and pressurised environment often facing testing situations and that they do so with great professionalism and dedication; and believes that the current arrangements fail to do justice to their contribution to prison safety.
