NAMING OF DURHAM UNIVERSITY AS UNIVERSITY OF THE YEAR

Early day motion 694, tabled 10 October 2005 by Roberta Blackman-Woods (Labour). Signed by 29 members.

That this House congratulates the staff and students of Durham University for being named University of the Year in the Sunday Times annual guide to universities; notes that this reflects the quality of teaching provided and research conducted in many fields of study; further notes that Durham's hi-tech science research is evidence of its world-class quality; believes that Durham's unique collegiate structure plays a large part in low drop out rates and high student satisfaction which contribute to Durham's continuing success; and wishes the University every success for the coming academic year.
