ETHNIC MINORITY INCLUSION IN SPORT
Early day motion 562, tabled 12 July 2005 by Lord Foster of Bath (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 38 members.
That this House notes that it has been 30 years since Arthur Ashe became the first black man to win the Wimbledon singles championship; welcomes the progress of sport in improving inclusiveness and diversity in recent years; regrets that, despite the continued success of ethnic minority sportsmen and women, ethnic minorities remain poorly represented at decision-making levels in most sports; and urges the Government to work with sports governing bodies to improve access to sports for all and at all levels.
