RIGHT OF APPEAL FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Early day motion 489, tabled 4 July 2005 by Mark Pritchard (Conservative). Signed by 46 members.
That this House acknowledges the important contribution made by international students to the UK's intellectual and economic strength; notes emerging evidence of a downturn in the popularity of the UK as a study destination; regrets the recent 136 per cent. increase in visa charges; and calls on the Government to reconsider plans to abolish the right of appeal for international students who are refused visas on the grounds that it will damage the UK's international reputation as a provider of world-class higher education.
