CARBON ABATEMENT TECHNOLOGIES STRATEGY AND UK MINED COAL

Early day motion 392, tabled 22 June 2005 by Michael Clapham (Labour). Signed by 54 members.

That this House welcomes the Government's paper `A Strategy for Developing Carbon Abatement Technologies for Fossil Fuel Use' and the pledge to make £25 million available for carbon abatement technology research to enable fossil fuels to be burned with reduced carbon dioxide emissions, thus increasing the scope for UK deep-mined coal to be declared a strategic supply; and calls on the Government to facilitate further development of the industry by introducing a new enhanced investment aid scheme.
