CONNECTING VILLAGES TO THE GAS NETWORK

Early day motion 287, tabled 8 June 2005 by Michael Clapham (Labour). Signed by 53 members.

That this House calls for a new initiative between the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Department of Trade and Industry and Transco to extend the gas network to rural and semi-rural villages currently denied it, particularly in the Barnsley West and Penistone constituency, where some villages are situated less than a mile from the network, thereby making a real improvement to people's lives by tackling fuel poverty and furthering economic and social inclusion.

Signatures by party: Labour 47, Liberal Democrat 4, Conservative 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
