MARCONI

Early day motion 927, tabled 15 March 2005 by Lindsay Hoyle (Labour). Signed by 24 members.

That this House expresses its disappointment at the decision taken by Marconi to reduce its workforce at its Chorley site; notes that in the region of 100 employees are being made redundant to take advantage of cheaper labour in China; condemns the lack of commitment to a loyal and hardworking workforce or towards the local economy; and calls on Marconi to work with union representatives to try and get the best deal for employees who are facing redundancy and to look to ensure that no further job losses take place and that jobs remain in the UK rather than being transferred abroad.

Signatures by party: Labour 22, DUP 1, Liberal Democrat 1.
