SUPPORTING PEOPLE PROGRAMME

Early day motion 889, tabled 10 March 2005 by David Laws (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 21 members.

That this House is concerned by the Government's plans to cut the grant for the Supporting People programme by five per cent. in 2005-06, including by 6.28 per cent. in Somerset alone; believes that this will undermine care standards for many elderly and vulnerable people; and calls upon the Government urgently to reconsider these cuts and those planned for 2006-07 and 2007-08.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 15, Conservative 2, DUP 2, Labour 1, Labour/Co-operative 1.
