BULLFIGHT TRANSMISSIONS INTO THE UK

Early day motion 845, tabled 7 March 2005 by Lord Stratford (Labour). Signed by 54 members.

That this House is concerned that broadcasts of bullfighting, by Spanish Channel TVEi, can be viewed in the UK at times when minors are likely to be watching and that these programmes can be viewed via the Sky Family Pack from as early as 4.00pm and that they last for between two and three hours; congratulates Sky in bringing European and other cultures to Britain; but urges Her Majesty's Government and Ofcom to use the relevant provisions of the EU's Television Without Frontiers Directive to stop transmission of this loathsome and barbaric activity into the UK.

Signatures by party: Labour 40, Liberal Democrat 9, Labour/Co-operative 4, DUP 1.
