ENDOMETRIOSIS

Early day motion 402, tabled 15 December 2004 by Anne Begg (Labour). Signed by 8 members.

That this House recognises that endometriosis can be a distressing gynaecological disease that can lead to infertility, severe and constant pain, emotional distress and financial cost to the individual and to the State, due to delayed and incorrect diagnosis with ineffective treatments; is concerned that endometriosis, which is still a relatively unknown disease despite the fact that one in 10 women in the UK is a sufferer, is not featured in any of the national service frameworks and is not a current national or primary care trust priority; and therefore urges the Secretary of State for Health to look at this with the utmost urgency, as many of the two million women in the UK with endometriosis are not receiving the care they need and so rightly deserve.
