JOB CUTS AT THE TELEGRAPH NEWSPAPER GROUP

Early day motion 694, tabled 8 February 2005 by John McDonnell (Labour). Signed by 39 members.

That this House deplores the actions of the Telegraph newspaper group in announcing, without consultation with staff or trade unions, up to 300 job cuts, including 90 journalists on the Daily and Sunday Telegraph, despite these papers being in sizeable profit and contrary to recent assurances to staff concerning their job security.

Signatures by party: Labour 28, Liberal Democrat 4, Labour/Co-operative 3, Plaid Cymru 2, Conservative 1, DUP 1.
