GIFTING OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT TO THE IRAQI INTERIM GOVERNMENT (NO. 2)

Early day motion 600, tabled 26 January 2005 by Glenda Jackson (Labour). Signed by 24 members.

That this House, while welcoming the gifting of equipment for security monitoring purposes to the Iraqi Interim Government, as detailed in the Ministry of Defence minute dated 25th January, deplores the inclusion in this gift of 774 medium machine guns (PKMs) and five million rounds of ammunition; and calls upon the Government to withdraw such military hardware, which will do nothing to reduce violence and intimidation in a country awash with such weapons.

Signatures by party: Labour 15, Liberal Democrat 5, Labour/Co-operative 2, Plaid Cymru 2.
