TAIWAN

Early day motion 354, tabled 6 January 2004 by Tom Cox (Labour). Signed by 46 members.

That this House notes with deep concern the increasing threat of possible military action against Taiwan being made by the Peoples Republic of China; further notes the many missiles that are already aimed at Taiwan from across the Taiwan Straits; and calls on the major political powers of the world and the United Nations to use their influence to impress upon the Peoples Republic of China the need fully to respect the wishes of Taiwan and its people to their right to independence and to continue to follow their established democratic system of government, free from military threat from the Peoples Republic of China.
