CHILD POVERTY(2)

Early day motion 351, tabled 6 January 2004 by Austin Mitchell (Labour). Signed by 9 members.

That this House abhors the fact that 3.8 million children still live in poverty in this country despite the many excellent Government initiatives like Sure Start and Working Families Tax Credit; supports Barnardo's campaign to end child poverty; and calls on the Government to publish a co-ordinated strategy to fulfil their pledge to end child poverty by 2020 that includes cross-departmental accountability at a national and local level that identifies resources and targets.
